We’re six months deep into the Covid-19 pandemic. Maybe it’s longer, maybe it’s not. It’s hard to keep track of time. One day just blurs into another.

Most of us are still stuck at home. We turn on the news and are assaulted by negativity. The politicians bicker and act like petulant children. The cable news stations instill fear, so they could get more viewers, which means more advertising revenue. Check into Twitter and you’re likely to see civil unrest, riots, mayhem and cities burning.

Every day, we hear about another iconic company that has filed for bankruptcy. You’ve noticed that some of your local favorite restaurants and stores have closed—some for good. Each month, the Department of Labor reports that another million or so Americans are filing for unemployment benefits. So far, over 60 million people in the United States have made claims for unemployment.

The stock market is acting skittish after a big runup and we’re due to see a correction. Usually things go haywire when we’re close to a presidential election. It wouldn’t be surprising to see a second wave of the virus outbreak.

If you are on the job hunt or worried about the safety of your job, these aren’t the greatest of times. It’s understandable to be both frightened and angry over the state of affairs. It’s natural to be concerned over how you can continue to pay the mortgage, your kids’ college tuition payments, the car leases, health insurance and all the other irritating costs and taxes that never go away.
