  1. For the questions “ Why do you want to work for this company?” And “Why do you want this job?”I don’t know what kind of career field you are in but you can probably do this for almost any company especially if it’s a big one. Search online about any recent accomplishments the company might have achieved in their industry. Maybe if they have a website check to see if they have anything on there or if they have a LinkedIn page you could check it out and see what they have been doing. Look at the big picture of what they are doing and if you like it or are impressed by it mention how you want to be a contributing factor in that kind of thing by taking on this particular job. So basically, research the company and show your knowledge about them and how you want to be a part of that.
  2. For the question “Why are you a good fit?” Well, you could say something like I have “X” (fill in the number) of years experience in ___(fill in the blank). Don’t list every specific thing but give highlights of important job skills that you have that fit for the job you are applying for. If you have any volunteer work that pertains to the job you are applying for you could maybe mention that too. Do you get along with people in general? I am assuming you do. Tell them you know how to treat people with dignity and respect. I’d imagine every employer wants someone who is a team player no matter what their overall mission or purpose is as a company. They want “peace and harmony” between employees so business can get done. Let them know you think that kind of thing is important to you too.
  3. For the question “Why should we hire you?” If it’s truly a company you want to work for you could tell them you would be a loyal employee. Like if you are willing to work overtime you can count on me to be willing to do that (if you really are). I am going to go ahead and just assume here that you are driven and you have a lot of motivation to get things done. Have you made any improvements to a product or service at your last job or on a team of people who did? If so, tell them about it and how innovative you can be if that’s something that is good in your career.

I am in the Social media marketing industry. And I have 8 years of experience. But I got a job from my friend’s references and never have to actually find a job or get through the interview. This is all new for me.

Thanks a lot, Laura for the great suggestions. Let me add those points to my interview question/answer document. And relate to my industry and think about what I can say with those answers.
