To many people, it might come as a surprise that southern New Jersey, located 15 miles west of the Jersey Shore beaches, boasts a top tech company. iCIMS—short for Internet Collaborative Information Management Systems—is a cloud-based human resources and recruiting software company that provides recruiting solutions to organizations.

The company, founded in 2000 and headquartered at Bell Works in Holmdel, New Jersey, has around 1,4000 employees and a roster of top-tier clients, including Microsoft, Target, IBM, Tiffany & Company and Morgan Stanley.

iCIMS is best known for its Talent Cloud, a cloud-based recruiting software platform that empowers organizations to attract, engage, hire and advance the talent to build a winning workforce.

The tech company has specialized in artificial intelligence for more than five years. AI is embedded throughout its platform for intelligent candidate and job matching, chatbots, skills matching and more.

Responsible AI And Use Cases

In a Zoom conversation with Al Smith, the chief technology officer at iCIMS, Smith shared how the company is passionate about offering a responsible AI code of ethics that meets high standards. iCIMS conducts third-party audits to reduce and mitigate bias. The company’s code of ethics ensures fairness in the AI; humans remain at the forefront, and it takes a thoughtful approach to ensure that its products are explainable, reversible, safe and transparent.

iCIMS launched Copilot, a new generative AI-powered recruiting assistant, to empower recruiters to perform their jobs more efficiently without being weighed down by rote and repetitive tasks. The new feature allows talent acquisition professionals to be more productive and provides a better context for decisions and improved experiences.

Making A Job Description Easier

For recruiters and human resources professionals, writing a job description can feel like a chore. You start with a blank page and need to incorporate and get approval from HR, the hiring manager and a slew of others within the organization to sign off on the job listing. The task takes a long time, which pulls them away from mission-critical responsibilities. iCIMS’ job description tool helps determine what content should be eliminated,  edited or added to the job advertisement to get everything started. A human professional can collaborate with the iCIMS Copilot as it dynamically marks up your work with recommendations in real-time.

Bespoke Interview Questions

Coming up with interview questions different from the standard “Where do you see yourself in five years?” isn’t easy. Creating intriguing, thought-provoking, and insightful questions takes time, energy and talent. iCIMS Copilot will do the heavy lifting by generating interview questions for open requisitions.

To tailor the questions appropriately, users of the technology can upload a candidate’s résumé to ensure that the interviewer’s line of inquiry is relevant to the applicant’s résumé and the requirements within the job listing.

Job Search And Career Journey

The tool helps both candidates and employees get answers to career-related questions through the intelligent digital assistant. For instance, you can ask, “Based on my experiences, education, skills, credentials and accreditations, what career paths are the most relevant for me?”

Wellfound’s RecruiterCloud

Across the country from iCIMS, in Silicon Valley, Wellfound, a large platform that caters to startups, launched an AI-powered sourcing feature. RecruiterCloud uses AI to match job seekers with job openings based on their skills and experience.

I spoke with Amit Matani, CEO of Wellfound, formerly AngelList Talent, to learn how the tech platform is leveraging AI. RecruiterCloud is an AI-powered sourcing tool that matches job seekers with job openings based on their skills and experience. It also provides a centralized platform for recruiters to manage the hiring process. With millions of job seekers using Wellfound’s platform, RecruiterCloud has access to a vast talent pool to help recruiters find the best matches for their roles.

AI-driven searches sift through the aggregation of billions of data points to enhance candidate profiles with missing skills and insights about their work experience. Recruiters can easily schedule candidates and jump-start the interview process.

It integrates with Slack, enabling recruiters to more easily connect with their sourcers,  review candidates and message their top leads. It also syncs with applicant tracking systems to track candidate progression, avoid duplicate outreach and maximize their time and efficiencies.
